It’s almost time for the annual winter celebrations, and you know what that means, don’t you? Get your pots and pans out it’s cooking time. If you want to create a delicious masterpiece for this year’s festivities, you need to get your kitchen appliances in order and properly cleaned. Thankfully our Oxford professionals are here to give you some valuable pieces of advice.

A Deep Oven Cleansing Before the Holidays

Your oven will be very busy during the winter festivities as everybody loves a good home meal. So why don’t you clean your stove properly beforehand? This way you will avoid the buildup of grease stains and food leftovers. The easiest way to do that is as follows:

  • Clean the top of your stove with a soft sponge and specialised detergent.
  • Remove the trays from the oven and dip them in a degreaser. Leave them for at least two-three hours then scrub them with a brush. Finish by rinsing them with hot water.
  • Use a degreaser to clean the window of your oven. Again spray it and leave it. Scrub the grime and wipe everything clean with a damp cloth.

Refresh and Wash Your Fridge

You are expecting serious quantities of food so you better wash properly your fridge to avoid nasty smells and unwanted fungi.

  • fridge and freezerRemove all of the food from the fridge and inspected it. Toss away everything that has gone bad or is past its expiration date.
  • Use a microfibre cloth and a solution of warm water and a multipurpose cleaner to wipe your fridge from the inside and out.
  • Put the food back in its place.
  • If there is still a nasty smell lingering in the air, put a plate with a couple of slices of lemon inside the fridge.
  • Remember to check your freezer. Depending on the type and model, it may need to be defrosted.
  • Clean your freezer using the same technic as your fridge.

The Microwave Needs Your Attention

It is yet another vital cooking appliance. You use the microwave not only to warm up your food but also to defrost or boil it. Some models can even work as grills or ovens. That is why you must properly wash it before the winter celebrations in your Oxford home. Thankfully it is extremely easy to do that.

  • Just put a dish filled with water and a couple of spoons of vinegar inside and let it work for two to three minutes.
  • Don’t open the door right away. The liquids will condense and form drops.
  • After 10 minutes open the microwave and wipe it clean with a microfibre cloth.
  • Clean the outside part with a multipurpose detergent.

Wash Your Dishwasher

dishwasherOne of the biggest misconceptions people believe in is that if a machine is made for washing it automatically cleans itself. This, of course, is not true, and you must properly take care of your dishwasher.

  • First, empty it from all plates and cutlery
  • Remove the bottom dish rach and clean the drain. All of the gunge and food leftovers must go into the rubbish bin.
  • Put a cup of vinegar in your dishwasher and run an empty cycle.
  • Wipe it clean from the outside as well. Use a cloth and a multipurpose cleaner.

Remember about Your Coffee Maker and Electric Kettle

According to Oxford professional cleaners, these appliances are a magnet for bacteria. You need to wash them regularly and never leave water inside of them. Most coffee machines have specialised cleaning kits, so you don’t have to worry about how to wash them. On the other hand, electric kettles are equally easy to clean. Fill them with vinegar and leave them for an hour. The acid will both kill the germs and remove the limescale from the heater. Then just wash them with water and you are ready for afternoon tea at your Oxford house.
